School of Engineering faculty, alumni, and friends are mourning the passing of Fouad H. Fouad, Ph.D., Professor and Chair Emeritus, who left an indelible mark on the school—and especially the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering—in a career that spanned more than 40 years.

Summer Squashed camp by the MME Department! High schoolers learned CAD and physics by designing and 3D printing their own tabletop trebuchets, finishing the week with distance competitions and an Angry Birds-style smash. We have a few spots left for Session 2 from June 29 to July 2.

The racetrack Barber Motorsports Park became a classroom last month, when a UAB mechanical engineering class spent a day at the races during the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix. Andrés Morales took his Vehicle Dynamics class to Barber, where students were able to talk with engineers from the Indycar teams, visit the museum, and enjoy a birds-eye view of the pit area.
