We hope you all are enjoying your summer so far. This post is in an effort to support the Engineering Council of Birmingham. The organization has been around almost 70 years and is at risk of dissolution if they cannot find any new persons to take on leadership roles.
Below is an excerpt of the email we received, if you know anyone or are yourself interested in taking on a role within ECOB please email [email protected] ASAP.
"ECOB, Inc. over the past ~ 3 years has been rotating officer positions throughout the same 3 – 4 members (some holding multiple offices at once) just to keep the organization afloat with no participation of other members so that succession plans could be available. While these same 3 – 4 members are dedicated to the mission/vision of ECOB, Inc., we can no longer continue to keep the organization going ALONE. Keep in mind, as engineers, we are compelled to use our engineering knowledge and abilities to make the earth a better place and to ensure our profession lives on through providing scholarships to aspiring engineers.
Due to the lack of participation by other members, we will be hosting an EMERGENCY Meeting of ECOB, Inc. society representatives in order to determine the future of ECOB, Inc. We will either elect officers, by quorum of 8 society members, OR we will pursue the dissolution of ECOB, Inc. This meeting is being held as a last effort to keep the 68 year-old organization, 60th Annual fundraiser banquet, and scholarship program thriving. If participation is not increased and officers cannot be elected at this meeting, the current officers will proceed by taking efforts to dissolve ECOB, Inc. The money in the checking account would more than likely be transferred to the Foundation, and the Foundation would take the scholarship program to give scholarships until there is no money left.”
