Class of 2024, we love you, and we can't wait to see all that God is going to do in you and through you!
At Westminster, our second grade students dive into the wonders of ancient Egypt! A highlight of the year is always the mummification and burial of the chicken. Last week, Mr. Ritch led the students in an Egyptian funeral procession for the chicken they mummified in the fall. We are thankful for the promise of John 3:16 that "God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
Field Day 2024! Celebrating the best of times with the best of friends at the Lower School's Field Day.
What is a Salutatio? In Latin, salutatio means "formal greeting." At Westminster, Salutatio is a ceremony for our sixth grade students to mark the end of their years in the Lower School. It serves as a final greeting from the Lower School and a first greeting from the Upper School. During the ceremony, the Becky Cox Award was presented to two students who were chosen by their classmates for demonstrating Christ-like character. The excited students were then escorted by the Lower School teachers through the tunnel to the Upper School, where they received their House assignments for the upcoming year and celebrated with their family and friends.
Congratulations, Gabrielle and the Class of 2024!
Happy Mother's Day to all of our mothers! We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with each of you. You've got one more week! We can do it! The kindergarten students' portraits of their mothers are always a favorite.
Congratulations, Miles and the Class of 2024!
Congratulations, Andrew and the Class of 2024!
This morning, our Upper School celebrated the accomplishments of our senior class. This class of 38 students was offered $7,274,298 in scholarships and awards, and they accepted $2,090,700 in scholarships and awards. Elizabeth Bandura and Jonathan Sellers were named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the class of 2024. Grace Cobb was given the Thesis Award for her work on "The Media's Threat to the American Justice System." We recognized four students who were named National Merit Finalists this year. Seven students were honored for receiving the Seal of Biliteracy for their proficiency in two or more languages. This year, 46 students earned the Silver Maxima Cum Laude award, and 23 students earned the Gold Summa Cum Laude award on the National Latin Exam. Four seniors were acknowledged for scoring a perfect score on the ACT, an accomplishment fewer than 0.3% of the test-takers attain. Thirty of our seniors were awarded the Senior Leadership Award. Eleven seniors earned a Fine Arts award for participating in five or more fine arts activities.
In athletics, the Class of 2024 was involved in 20 area or section championships, five state runner-ups, and three state championships. They have an AHSAA All-Star Athlete and a college signee this year. Adleigh Metcalf represented Westminster and our area in the AHSAA's Bryant-Jordan Foundation's Achievement Award. Alexander Montgomery was selected as the 2A Region 4 Scholar-Athlete winner of the Bryant-Jordan Foundation's Scholar-Athlete Award. Eighteen seniors received the Senior Athletic Award for lettering in three or more varsity sports. Several state champion track athletes (3A) were recognized, including gold medalists in the girls' 4x800 relay, a gold medalist in the 3200 meters, and a gold medalist in both the 1600 meters and 800 meters. Elizabeth Bandura was named the MVP of the 3A Section 2 track meet with a gold medal in the 100 m hurdles, a silver medal in the 300-meter hurdles, and a silver medal for the 4x400 relay team member. Congratulations, students! We are so proud of you!
Congratulations to the class of 2024 valedictorian Elizabeth Bandura and salutatorian Jonathan Sellers!

The win sends the Knights (18-4-4) into Friday's state finals to face St. Luke's Episcopal at 11:30 a.m. in Huntsville.
All the friends of the Westminster Library would like to thank the many parent and grandparent volunteers who have covered over 1,100 new books for the library in the past school year! The success of our library depends on our community’s commitment, and we are grateful to these volunteers who have gone above and beyond in service to us. Thank you!
Our boys varsity soccer team left today to play Tanner in the semifinals of the AHSAA 1A/3A state tournament in Huntsville tomorrow. Go Knights!

Congratulations, Wilson and the Class of 2024!
A severe case of chocolate fever has broken out in the second grade! After reading Chocolate Fever by Robert Kimmel Smith, our sweet second grade students dove into all the chocolate.
Congratulations to Westminster's Asher Franklin, the AHSAA 1A-2A Section 2 Golf Champion! With a score of 71, the eighth grader shot the lowest round of all high school golfers competing at yesterday's Section Tournament played at the Highland Park Golf Course. Asher now advances to next week's Sub-State round that will be played at the RTJ Golf Trail at Cambrian Ridge (Greenville). Great job, Asher! We are so proud of you!
Congratulations, Sarah Margaret and the Class of 2024!
Our first grade adventurers have had an egg-citing month exploring the magic of hatching eggs! From carefully setting them to eagerly awaiting the big moment, every step was filled with wonder and learning. After nine days of anticipation, they candled the eggs, peeking inside to witness the miracle of life unfolding. And finally, after two weeks of patient waiting, they delighted at the sight of newly hatched chicks!
Poetry came alive at our Middle School poetry night as our seventh and eighth graders beautifully recited poetry for their families and friends. Thank you to all who came out to support our Middle School students.
Exciting times are ahead as our seniors showcase their insightful thesis projects this week! Each senior chose a topic of particular interest to them and poured themselves into their research and writing. We couldn't be more proud of them! The full schedule is in Thursday's Knightly News! Seniors, we are praying for you! You've got this!
Our senior girls took a break from thesis stress with a skirt painting party! They got creative, painting their skirts with logos, symbolizing their future plans. Graduation is coming fast, and we are so proud of the Class of 2024!
Congratulations, Isabella and the Class of 2024!
Congratulations, Alexander and the Class of 2024!
Congratulations, Elizabeth and the Class of 2024!

Our sixth grade students are running to the finish line–both in their Fun Run today and in their Lower School experience. In a few weeks, they'll be running through the tunnel to begin their journey through the Upper School.
Wearing their fun socks, the first grade beautifully recited the Christmas story from Luke 2 at our all-school Christmas Chapel. Great job on the recitation (and the socks)!
