Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. In 2021, it's estimated that about 30% of newly diagnosed cancers in women will be breast cancers.
About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer. These occur due to genetic mutations that happen as a result of the aging process and life in general, rather than inherited mutations.
Take the first step and perform a breast exam on yourself. Follow the link to https://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/testing/types/self_exam for a step-by-step guide to performing a self-exam.
Early Detection is KEY!!!

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month:
• 1 in 73 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their lifetime
• Ovarian cancer doesn’t have an early detection screening
• It is essential to have awareness about symptoms and communicate any body changes to your doctor during annual checkups
• If you feel significant pain near your ovaries, bloating, changes in diet and appetite, or pain urinating, contact your doctor at the first sign of those symptoms
• When caught early, there is a 93% chance of survival, making it one of the most survivable cancers we know
