Kicking off our celebration of with 16-year-old Willie Mays as a member of Chattanooga’s very own Negro League team, the Chattanooga Choo-Choos.

Mays played for the Choo-Choos while still in high school. During the summers of 1945 & 1946, his father would drive him from Fairfield, Alabama to Chattanooga, Tennessee to play at Lincoln Park. The Choo-Choos was Mays’ 1st professional team. The rest is history.

It is with regret the Class of 1965, Westfield High School, Birmingham, Alabama has loss another member. Mr. James Whitt, Age 75 of Adamsville, passed away Sunday, Dec 5th. Funeral Service on Sat, Dec 11th at 11:00 AM from Arrington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Thanks to the classmates that attended the Class of 65 Holiday Dinner. This was an awesome time of great memories and fellowship. Happy Holidays to each of you.
