Friday was a great day on the Hilltop — the first of the next chapter for the place BSC called home for more than 100 years.

Not gonna lie: The violinist’s rendition of the national anthem made my eyes leak.

Forward, Ever — Always. And Semper Paratus.

Nice recap of the vibe on Friday.

Nostalgia mingled with hope for those assembled to celebrate the new U.S. Coast Guard Training Center on the former Birmingham-Southern College campus.

A heartfelt thanks to BSC alumni Ed Hardin, Champ Meyercord and Larry Durham for hosting the lovely gathering at Ed’s restaurant, Galley & Garden, after Sunday’s Service of Thanksgiving.

Delicious food and libations, much laughter and reminiscing, and the opportunity to meet some of our new Coast Guard friends followed a most meaningful service at Trinity UMC.

If you were there, feel free to post photos in the comments.

And next time you’re looking for a place for a great dinner and/or drinks, please consider heading to Galley & Garden. You’ll find a fabulous menu, great service, valet parking, and a way to say thank you to a most generous member of the BSC family for the hospitality.
