We had our first ACAP “Bison Bullseye” Academic Race, and both the students and the faculty had a BLAST 💥❗️Students selected 7 of their peers to represent their grade-level, each scholar had to answer an ELA and a math question at each of the “bison bullseye stations,” and the first grade-level to get all of their peers back to their chairs won a pizza party 🍕 for their grade and the “Hall of Champions” award that will be posted on their hall 🏆. Congratulations to our 6th grade scholars on their win 💪🏾❗️

On yesterday, MWMS donated $1,000 to the UNCF 👏🏾🎊❗️These funds will assist with providing opportunities for educational advancement, and matriculation. We are so proud of our scholars 🤩. (a small portion of our 400+ scholars represented on this photo) Thank you Coach JD Daniels for leading this effort.

Don’t forget about the book fair this week.

When we say “by any means necessary,” we mean by any means necessary❗️Mrs. Leonard, our 8th grade math teacher, and Ms. Roddy, AMSTI Specialist, took learning from the desk to the hallways 🧮 📏 ✏️. We are determined to make sure that our scholars are engaged in the learning process.

On last night, our parents came out to have crucial conversations and learn how to read their scholar’s data 📊 🤩. S/O to our awesome Title I Coordinator, Mrs. Thobosi, for putting this event together and all of our wonderful staff who stayed to assist parents and answer questions.

Congratulations to our 7th grade math teacher, Mr. Freeman, and his class, for having the most ST Math usage for our school on this past week. Keep doing great things 🎊👍🏾❗️Thank you, Dr. Moss, for helping our scholars to celebrate with a snack party.

Please join us tonight for our Parent Meeting.

“What can I do to make sure that my child is successful in school?” 🤔

“How can I make sure that my child understands what’s being taught in their classes?” 🤷🏾‍♂️

“What can I do to make sure that my child performs well on the ACAP and iReady assessments?” 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you’re asking yourself these questions, parents/guardians, join us on Monday, February 5th @6:00 p.m., in the gymnasium for our parent meeting. During this meeting, we will talk about ways that you can assist your scholar in their academic endeavors, tutoring that is made available on Saturdays and how your scholar can partake in that, how we have strategically structured our enrichment classes, and will also have members of the faculty/staff present to help you read the data from your child’s most recent assessment. With the ACAP and Window 3 iReady assessments approaching, we want to make sure that we do everything possible to prepare our scholars 📚.

We’re gearing up for the “Sweets In Sneaks” Valentine’s Day Ball ❤️💘 💌 ❗️Tickets go on sale Monday. Grab your sweet and your sneaks, and we will see you on Friday, February 9th❗️

This afternoon at 1:00, our Lady Bison Basketball Team will take on Phillips Academy for the title of 2023-2024 BCS Middle School Basketball Champions❗️

Malachi Wilkerson Middle School would like to thank our board member, President Jason Meadows, for his continued and unwaivering support to Birmingham City Schools and its’ stakeholders 📚✏️.
