We are honored that the ABA ranked Cumberland's ADR and Moot Court programs so highly in our first year of consideration! This debut ranking is a testament to all the hard work and dedication our advocates have put in over the last year, and we look forward to continuing this incredible legacy over the next year.

Cumberland School of Law has been ranked 8th in the nation in the American Bar Association (ABA) Law Student Division's top 10 law school competition teams in arbitration, negotiation, client counseling, mediation and appellate advocacy.

“We challenged ourselves at the start of the 2023-24 school year to work towards breaking into the ABA ranking,” said Sara Williams, JD ’06, visiting director of advocacy programs. “In true Cumberland fashion, the students and coaches who lead our ADR and moot court teams exceeded my expectations by premiering in the No. 8 position. I am thankful for the time and commitment of our students and volunteer coaches who were dedicated to continuing to expand Cumberland's advocacy footprint.”

Please join us in congratulating Cumberland’s National Negotiation Team for a job well done!

Last weekend, the negotiation team competed in the Esports Competition hosted by Villanova Law.

Team members Ford Waters, Elley Smith, Zane Mitchell, and Lucas Harris-Miller were coached by Dylan Martin and were runners-up after a very narrow loss to Penn State.

The team of Connor Chase, Jalen Williams, Savannah Aldridge, and Beth Logan were coached by Thomas Thorneycroft. While not advancing past the preliminary rounds, the team had strong showings in all their rounds, narrowly failing to make the semifinal round.

We are so proud of each of our advocates and the way they conducted themselves throughout the entire competition! Congratulations to all of our advocates on a job well done, and thank you to our coaches for developing such amazing advocates!
