I am the first generation Hispanic-American to be a current student in Jefferson State Community College, I have graduated Tallassee high-school since May 2022 now majoring in funeral service education. Let me introduce myself, my name is Ashley Hernandez Carias! I am a recipient with an E-sport scholarship that helped paid for my tuition and I felt very lucky to be able to attend my classes. A little few things about myself is that I am always busy as I am involved with many organizations within this community college. I am sort of the Jefferson state Ambassador, Hispanic student association, Sigma Kappa Delta, Phi Theta Kappa, and Jefferson art and animation guild + occupied with my internship at a funeral home! There isn’t much to say in my introduction but I am a proud student to attend Jefferson state community college.

My name is Ana and I have a passion; to love, to give, to serve. Growing up I found a passion for fitness and wellness and created my own personal training program. I learned to use my passion and interest as resources. I take pride in my achievements as I faced many of the challenges as 1st gen Mexican - American. Being the oldest of 5 made it a bit more difficult. Yet, that didn’t stop me from confronting feelings of conflict, shame, and guilt. It made me a strong leader and without these challenges I wouldn’t have the confidence and the passion I have to help others.

My name is Emily Zepeda Hernandez , I am a business major at the Clanton Jeff State campus, and part of PTK. In my free time I like to enjoy listening to different types of music and recently got into early feminist women short story, and poems including “I Stand Here Ironing” and “Girl”. I am excited for this upcoming fall semester and all the beautiful cultural events that will be occurring for the Hispanic cultures.

My name is Crystal! I am a sophomore in the Shelby campus, and I am majoring in Architecture. I am more than happy to announce that I am this years secretary for LSA. With this opportunity, I hope to improve my leadership skills and to help our Latino community! I, myself, am Mexican, for my father is from Mexico.

Hey, my name is Daniela! I’m the LSA Shelby-Hoover Vice President. I’m Mexican and Costa Rican! This is my second year at Jeff State. I’m a political science major and I plan on becoming an immigration lawyer. My favorite color is purple!

I was born and raised in California, although I currently live in Alabaster, Alabama. I have a passion for photography, and I am currently going to school for computer programming. I love traveling, learning, and my dog, Doobert.

Hello! My name is Christian Alvarez and I just graduated from Pell City High School and will be attending Jefferson State this fall. I plan on majoring in Architecture then transferring to Auburn University. I’m Vice President for the Pell City campus! About me, I've been a part of my school's band program, playing saxophone, for half of my school career. I'm a very friendly person, but a little introverted. I'm so happy to be able to serve this campus and organization!
