We're what we thought we'd be-- a very thin, talent deprived team. However, we saw those boys go toe-to-toe and not lose heart or faith in each other or their coaches. In fact, it seems to be having a galvanizing effect; from coaches to recruits.

What we found, for ourselves anyway, is that last night's loss hurt so much because we were all so invested in the game.

Guys and gals, do y'all realize how long it's been since we've been invested in games like these? For the better part of a decade we just shrugged off loss after loss to our biggest rivals because we were so apathetic to the doldrums we were stuck in. It hurts because we finally felt some of that old AU spirit throughout the game and stadium and we let ourselves begin to believe again.

Last night, we started to wake up as a program and fan base. We’re emerging from the wilderness. Hang with this program … better days are ahead, and very soon. 🥶🚀

I hope they will look back on their life,

on these sacred but messy and imperfect days.

The ones when I struggled and sometimes didn't know what to do.

The ones that were long with babies and a blur with big kids.

The ones when my heart could feel broken and full at the same time.

The ones with piles of dishes and never ending laundry.

The ones with hugs that could heal.

The ones with overwhelmed tears.

The ones that were hard.

The ones that were worth it.

The ones with dinner around the table.

The ones with hurried snacks for the sidelines.

The ones when they were growing up.

The ones when I was still growing up in a way too.

The ones I prayed for and prayed through.

The ones with good days.

The ones with bad days.

The ones with everything in between days.

The ones when together meant home and home was our favorite.

A father said to his daughter “You have graduated with honors, here is a Jeep I bought many years ago. It is pretty old now. But before I give it to you, take it to the used car lot downtown and tell them I want to sell it and see how much they offer you for it.”

The daughter went to the used car lot, returned to her father and said, “They offered me $1,000 because they said it looks pretty worn out.”

The father said, now “Take it to the pawn shop.” The daughter went to the pawn shop, returned to her father and said,”The pawn shop offered only $100 because it is an old Jeep.”

The father asked his daughter to go to a Jeep club now and show them the Jeep. The daughter then took the Jeep to the club, returned and told her father,” Some people in the club offered $100,000 for it because “it's an iconic Jeep and sought by many collectors.”

Now the father said this to his daughter, “The right place values you the right way,” If you are not valued, do not be angry, it means you are in the wrong place. Those who know your value are those who appreciate you......Never stay in a place where no one sees your value.

God takes our brokenness and turns it into beauty for His purpose and glory. Jesus heals the broken hearted. He was once broken too...for us. He loves you and He will not leave you or forsake you especially in your darkest hour. He will heal your broken heart if you give Him all of your shattered pieces. Broken can be made beautiful.
