I get a lot of questions about how to give kids consequences for disobeying. I have come to realize that a lot of people get confused about what a consequence is… A consequence is just what happens right after a child engages in a particular behavior. What happens after is either reinforcing or punishing. So check out this post to learn more about the difference!

The school year has come to an end and I have had some much needed rest. I have been working hard on my registered behavior technician 40 hour course. I wanted to take a minute to share about my logo. My amazing and talented husband Jared Neal designed it! I have had a vision of two hands reaching towards each other for months. Every time I prayed about my business or sat down to think about a logo I would get the same vision. After describing it to Jared, he brought it to life! The hands symbolize working together and collaborating with you to come up with solutions for your family. My husband used one single line when drawing the hands to represent connection and equality. The purple and yellow were inspired by my love for wildflowers and the circle represents looking at a behavioral issue from all sides.

Functions of behavior can be co-occurring! Your child can be doing any behavior for multiple reasons! Keep this in mind :)

I'm sure many of you have been there... at the grocery store and tantrums and all sorts of behaviors come out in order for your child to get something tangible. Coming up, we will look at what to do and how to respond once you know what the function of the behavior is!
