Huffman Academy

Huffman Academy held its first-ever PBIS A.R.M.O.R. Carnival to celebrate students who consistently demonstrated positive behavior and upheld the school’s A.R.M.O.R. expectations throughout the school year. Students enjoyed an afternoon filled with a cake walk, temporary tattoos, balloon animals, a photo booth, and a chalk art station as part of the celebration.

Day 3 of Teacher Appreciation Week was one for the decades! 🕺🏽💃🏽 Our teachers and staff had a great time stepping back in time, showing off their creativity and style in their decades attire.

We were also excited to welcome Birmingham City Schools Board President Sherman Collins, who stopped by this morning with a special surprise! We thank Board President Collins for his continued support of our school and for always showing love to our Huffman Academy family. 🧡💚

Teachers and staff enjoyed a delicious barbecue lunch sponsored by our amazing community partner, Flavors. Even though the day was cut short, the love and appreciation were still felt throughout the building.

To make the day even more special, our community partner Black & White Photography provided Teacher Appreciation photos for everyone — a gift our staff will cherish for years to come!

Day 2 of Teacher Appreciation Week at Huffman Academy was another amazing day of celebrating our incredible educators! 💚🧡

Our teachers were treated to a delicious loaded baked potato bar from Full Moon Barbecue, enjoyed a well-deserved duty-free lunch, and relaxed in our beautifully decorated “Oasis.” It was the perfect space to recharge and feel appreciated!

A special thank you to our community partner Serra Toyota for sponsoring today’s lunch for our teachers—we truly appreciate your support! 💚

This week, teachers are also participating in daily trivia for a chance to win gift cards sponsored by Huffman Academy’s Admin Team. Congratulations to today’s winner, Ms. Washington! 🎉

To top it all off, faculty came together after school for fellowship, enjoying refreshing fruit slushies and snacks while spending time with one another.

Even though it’s Teacher Appreciation Week, we also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing parents for providing lunch for the Admin Team—we appreciate you! 💚🧡

We are so grateful for all that our teachers do each and every day! Don’t forget to show some love to your scholar’s teacher this week—they truly deserve it! 💚🧡

🍎✨ Teacher Appreciation Week is off to an amazing start at Huffman Academy!

This morning, our teachers were welcomed with personalized yard signs featuring their pictures displayed at the front entrance—a small way to celebrate the big impact they make every day! ❤️

Staff also enjoyed a delicious hot breakfast and lunch.

Our morning announcements included a special shoutout from one of our second grade scholars to her teacher, making the day even sweeter! 📣💚🧡

We are also proud to celebrate two outstanding educators who were honored today at a special luncheon hosted by Birmingham City Schools: Huffman Academy’s Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Webb-Heard, and our newly National Board Certified Teacher, Mrs. Smith-Waller! 🎉

What a wonderful way to kick off the week! Thank you to our PTO President, Mrs. Rosalind Short, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and all of our community partners. Parents, be sure to show your child’s teacher some extra love this week for all they do.

Huffman Academy had an amazing time celebrating Autism Awareness Month with our Staff Charcuterie Contest! 💙🧡💚

Shoutout to Team Snack Pack, Team A+ Apple-tizers, and Team Elegant & Sweet Treats for their creativity and teamwork. Each display was thoughtfully designed, with every piece representing a meaningful reminder of Autism Awareness.

It was truly a beautiful sight to see our staff collaborate, showcase their talents, and enjoy delicious treats—all for such a wonderful cause.
