So many first day smiles and hugs! REC students could not wait to get this adventure started! Kindergarten students went on a bear hunt meeting new staff and learning to navigate the building. Other classrooms were going on scavenger hunts and participating in activities to learn more about their teachers, their classrooms, and their classmates. We can't wait for Day 2!!!!!

Let the adventure begin!!!! REC students are so excited to be back at school. Students met their new teacher, explored their new classroom, and were so excited to learn about all the adventures they will have this year. What was most heartwarming was all the students who could not wait to say hi to the other staff in the building. So many smiles, hugs, and kids saying "I can't wait to be back at school!". That's why REC is such an amazing place to be! See everyone on Monday!

Our final session of Serving Up Stories Cafe ended with a patriotic book to celebrate the 250th birthday of our nation, raffle prizes, and lunch. Thank you to all the students who visited the cafe this summer and spent time reading and responding to books. Thank you to Scoupe DeVille Ice Cream Parlor who donated gift cards for our raffle and thank you to all the family members who took time this summer to drive their kids to REC and read/discuss books with them this summer. Serving Up Stories Cafe had another fun week practicing their reading and writing skills. Students enjoyed a read aloud called The Ice Cream Truck and were surprised with a sweet treat at the end of the morning. Join us next week for our final Monday of Serving Up Stories Cafe on August 3rd from 9:30-11:30!

Monday morning was buzzing with excitement at Serving Up Stories Cafe. The kids explored the pollination process, how hives are used, and the importance of bees to our environment. Lots of hands on learning and games made for a fun morning for all.
