During our first year of the competition, we had a group of amazing students from Johnson City who had ambitions to bring kids off of the street and nurture their creativity. Their heart and passion was evident from the moment they presented and their determination to make an impact was inspiring.

An amazing thing happened from that passion, which was the birth of the Johnson City Summer Arts Program. Partnering with the Broome County Promise Zone, they really made an impact in their fellow student's lives and the program has been running ever since.

An amazing example of what students can bring to the table with their creativity and their drive. Thank you to this JC team for their dedication.

A group of teenagers frustrated by what they were seeing on the streets sparked the idea.

The Bright Spots Case Competition is for high school juniors who look to make a real impact on their local community and develop the skills necessary for success in higher education and the workplace along the way. Through the design of our case prompt and competition, we hope to instill in the community's future leaders the drive and positive mindset to make their ideas a reality.
