Catching up on posting some of the awesome student work from this year. This is the winning promo video from our junior Video Wars contest. First year student, El (Newark Valley) had to edit together footage from last year’s Wars Day events and send the promo along to the judges for scoring. The judges were impressed with her use of music to drive the video forward, her consistent graphic/text choices, and editing to the beat. Good job, El!

Exciting news! “The Omen Camera,” a film created by juniors Devyn Simpkins and Jacob Neville, won 3rd place at the NYS High School Film Festival in the Horror/Sci-Fi category. Great job, team!

There’s something super special about the Video Production Class of 2026! What a great night celebrating graduation with these amazing students. I’ll miss them in the fall, but I know they’re going to go out there and do amazing things! 🎥

Our students may not have placed at New York State competition, but we’re so proud of the work they did! Take a look at the informational video made by the Video Production team of Brenden and Cadence as well as the short film made by the Digital Cinema team of Devyn and Jacob. Great job!

Scenes from competition day at New York State Conference in Syracuse! We have students competing in a variety of contest including video production, audio production, digital cinema, photography, promotional bulletin board, prepared speech, and job interview!

On Wednesday, our students had a chance to practice their job interview skills with some local employers in the field of communications and media. Thank you to FOX 40 News WICZ-TV, SUNY Broome Community College Marketing and Communications Office, and our very own Broome-Tioga BOCES Communications Office for taking the time to interview the students!

Just when you think you’ve seen it all… We weren’t prepared for this new student to join us. 😂 Gary the bird eventually went through the ceiling to the atrium and has been freed with the help of many staff and students! Fly free, Gary!

Gary is free!! We had the surprise of a lifetime when this bird showed up in our classroom yesterday. We tried to catch him, but he went up into the ceiling. He reappeared this morning in the TV studio before retreating to the ceiling again and later reappearing in the atrium! Glad it’s a happy ending for our feathered friend!
