Students in our Summer Youth Employment program made serious headway in trimming through what can only be described as a mini-jungle this summer, and they did it in an impressive old school manner - using hand tools only.

This area, located along the strip of upper parking at the Broome-Tioga BOCES Education Center, will eventually evolve to add additional parking, so the Summer Youth good works have gone a long way toward that end. Well done.

Today, the Center for Career and Technical Excellence (CCTE) held its annual Summer Administrator Retreat, led by Director Matt Sheehan.

The CCTE leadership team spent the day exploring the Portrait of a Graduate shifts and strategizing ways to meaningfully integrate them into programs throughout the upcoming school year. Team members also set personal and professional leadership goals and kicked off discussions around this year’s book club selection.

Of course, a retreat needs a little friendly competition. For the working lunch, team members brought their own chicken wing sauces and toppings to battle for bragging rights and the title of Best Wing Creation.

Congratulations to CTE Principal Jeff Franey, who took home this year’s top honors.

A great day of learning, planning, team building, and a little friendly competition as CCTE gets ready for another great year.

Today was the first day in more than six weeks that the halls of our Broome-Tioga BOCES Education Center were still. It was a little bit odd considering what a bustling place they tend to be, even during a robust summer with our Extended School Year in full bloom.

Take a few weeks, all, and we’ll welcome all the kids back soon. Fully enjoy the rest of the summer and we’ll get together again in no time.

Things are ramping up at the South Central Regional Information Center - SCRIC as technology professionals across the region prepare for the start of the 26-27 school year. 💻

The team met at Broome-Tioga BOCES' Instructional Support Center to go over some important information with less than a month to go before school begins, making sure that school districts across the Southern Tier of New York can start the school year with the technology support they need to hit the ground running.
