Today was a great day in the garden! 🥕🍅🥬🧅

Our Farm to School Educator harvested a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden at Chenango Valley High School including carrots, tomatoes, kale, and onions!

Even better, the harvest will be donated to a local food pantry to help bring fresh, healthy food to our community.

We’re proud to partner with Chenango Valley High School through our Farm to School program and grateful for the opportunity to connect students, gardens, nutrition, and our community!

Since we harvested so many carrots today, we’re sharing a delicious way to enjoy them: Parmesan Ranch Smashed Carrots! They’re the perfect mix of sweet and savory and make a great snack or side dish.🥕

💧 Friendly reminder: Don’t forget to drink your water! 💧

Staying hydrated is an important part of taking care of your body. Adults generally need about 9–15.5 cups (72–124 ounces) of fluids per day, depending on factors like age, s*x, activity level, and overall health.

💦 Drinking enough water can help:
• Regulate body temperature
• Support healthy digestion
• Promote kidney health
• Cushion and lubricate your joints
• Support brain function and concentration

Before you scroll away, take a sip of water! 💧

Looking for a fun way to stay hydrated? Try this refreshing Strawberry Sipper Flavored Water made with pureed strawberries and fresh mint leaves. 🍓🌿 Prepare it ahead of time so you can grab it and go!

🌱 Our Farm to School Program has been hard at work caring for school gardens all summer long!

Take a look at what's been growing at Chenango Bridge Elementary School, Chenango Valley High School, Calvin Coolidge Elementary School, and Woodrow Wilson. Thanks to the dedication of our teachers and Farm to School Educators, these gardens continue to thrive throughout the summer, making it possible for students to return in the fall and harvest fresh, healthy produce.

This summer, students at Calvin Coolidge Elementary School also had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious Summer Vegetable Pasta Salad featuring yellow summer squash grown right in their school garden. For many students, it was their first time trying fresh summer squash and it was a hit! 🥗💚

We can't wait to see what our students harvest and learn from these gardens this school year! 🌼🍅🥒

Tonight from 4:00–7:00 PM, the 4-H UNITY Program will be at the Endicott Farmers Market serving free samples of a delicious Asian Kale Salad!

This summer, teen leaders have been working hard in the garden at Tiger Ventures in Union-Endicott. They've been learning how to care for a garden while growing and harvesting fresh vegetables that are donated to local food pantries and permanent supportive housing programs, helping reduce food waste and support the community.

Their time in the garden is about much more than growing food. Students are also building valuable life skills, including cooking, teamwork, leadership, and community service. 💚

Our Farm to School Program is honored to partner with Union-Endicott to show how gardening can inspire young people, strengthen communities, and open the door to new opportunities.

🌱 Stop by the 4-H UNITY table at the Endicott Farmers Market tonight, meet these incredible young leaders, and give their fresh Asian Kale Salad a try!🥗

This week, we had the opportunity to take the Broome County Health Department's Creating Healthy Schools and Communities Team on a tour of two school gardens their funding helped support! 🌱

We’ve been hard at work revitalizing the gardens at West Middle School and Woodrow Wilson Elementary in the Binghamton City School District. After sitting unused for several years, these gardens are coming back to life as hands-on learning spaces where students can explore gardening, discover where their food comes from, and build confidence trying new fruits and vegetables.

These gardens will provide meaningful educational opportunities for youth while helping create healthier school communities for years to come.

Thank you to the Broome County Health Department for supporting our school gardens and helping make this work possible!
