"Why did you decide to become a Tutor? Why do you like being a Tutor?"

I chose to become a tutor after my first semester of Organic Chemistry because I felt I could not have done as well as I did without UTS. I wanted to help students who were struggling as I had in intensive STEM courses, and I truly believe anyone is capable of passing a course, no matter how demanding it may be. I enjoy tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to connect with students from different backgrounds and see how differently we can experience the same courses. It also encourages me to continuously improve my communication skills through tutoring sessions, emails, and class introductions. I remember a past lead tutor describing how rewarding it was to finish a session knowing you had expressed a concept exactly as you had envisioned it, and I have come to appreciate that feeling myself.
