Pacific Crest Innovation Academy PCIA is a public Innovation Academy for grades 9-12 in the
Columbia River Gorge, offering rigorous, student-centered
learning in a supportive environment.

Learn more at pcia.org. In 2015, community residents became aware of an opportunity for non-high school districts to create an in-district public high school option for local students. Over the next nine months, a team of volunteers worked together to research, dream, and design a 21st century model high school program. These volunteers presented their proposal to the Mill A School Board in 2016. The Mill A School District and a neighboring non-high district, Mount Pleasant School District, agreed to join this audacious plan. Together, the districts filed an application to create Pacific Crest Innovation Academy, and in February 2017, they received approval from the State of Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Pacific Crest Innovation Academy launched fall 2017.

Our PCIA students started off this school year with creativity, collaboration and some serious LEGO skills! 🧱

Through a fun LEGO team-building challenge, students had the chance to work together, problem-solve, challenge themselves and bring their ideas to life.

We’re looking forward to seeing how these students continue to collaborate, grow as leaders, challenge themselves, and learn from one another throughout the year. We have a feeling they’re going to build some pretty great things together!

This spring, PCIA student Marissa took on a project with a big impact: using CAD software to design and 3D print miniature prosthetics for dolls. đź’™

These prosthetics offer medical professionals a thoughtful, age-appropriate way to introduce children to prosthetics.

Marissa shares how PCIA has given her the opportunity to combine rigorous, hands-on learning with creativity to take on projects that make a real difference.

PCIA students are taught by educators who meet college faculty standards, and they can earn up to two years of college credit for free.
