We're thrilled to have Derek Duckworth join our team here at GCCDS; He joined us on January 16, 2024, and has hit the ground running with several of our projects in the works.
Derek is a Graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, with a degree in Geography - Sustainable and Economic Development. Derek comes to us with background experience in Urban and City Planning along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and other regions of the country. Derek is most excited to do outreach projects, whether it is working with faculty and students in Moss Point on the NOAA B-WET grant or community outreach with the NRCS grant. Derek's background in GIS, planning, and community engagement make him a perfect employee for our Community Planner role. Derek is always looking to broaden his horizons and help any community advocates within the extensive Gulf Coast region.
When Derek is not working to better his community through planning and advocacy, you may be able to find him on one of the local golf courses, dog parks, or beaches with his dogs Ozzie and Charley.
Help us in welcoming Derek to our GCCDS Team! If you have any outreach or advocacy projects that you think we may be able to assist with, please contact our office, us and Derek will be happy to help!

We're pleased to welcome Georgia DeWitt to the GCCDS Staff. Georgia is a graduate of LSU's Landscape Architecture program with a keen interest in the connection between communities and the natural environments they inhabit, with an emphasis on issues relating to stormwater and resiliency.
Georgia comes to the Mississippi Gulf Coast with a background as a nursery and landscape professional. She was an Olmstead Scholar in 2023 and has been certified as a Landscape Horticulturist. She knows her plants!
Since joining the studio in August 2023, she's been volunteering on the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve Phenology Trail and has been a great asset to the expanding work of the Studio.
Welcome!
AND STAY TUNED ... 2 more new staff introductions are on the horizon.
