If diabetes goes untreated, high blood glucose can damage the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, eyes and nervous system. The two most common forms of diabetes are Type 1 and Type 2, which can occur at any age but children are most likely to be diagnosed with Type 1.

RSV is the leading cause of hospitalization in babies under 1. We’re in RSV season (Oct–Mar), and with holiday gatherings ahead, it’s important to know there are two ways to protect little ones:
• RSV vaccine — for pregnant people in the 3rd trimester and adults 65+
• RSV antibody shot — for infants under 8 months whose mother didn’t get the vaccine during pregnancy, and high-risk infants 9–19 months

Both help protect babies from severe RSV during the months they’re most at risk.

According to the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, the remainder of November's SNAP benefits were issued over the weekend. Those receiving SNAP will receive regularly scheduled benefits starting in December.

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services recently issued a recall of two specific lots of ByHeart Infant Formula.

Lot: 206VABP/251261P2 ("Use by 01 Dec 2026")

Parents and caregivers should immediately stop feeding infants the recalled ByHeart formula.

Parents should seek immediate medical attention for their child if they exhibit symptoms of infant botulism.

Partial SNAP payments are set to begin this week and into next week.

In Montana, 7% of the population gets SNAP benefits and 63% of those benefits go to families with children (approximately 49,000 children!)

As the government reopens, it's not clear if and when full November SNAP payments will be made. MTAAP continues to advocate for full and timely SNAP payments, and additionally calls on Montanans to support their communities if they're able to help:
