Breakthrough. A new "No-Dig" garden bed was started in April 2024. Cardboard was placed on top of a w**d patch, then 2 inches of GOOD compost was placed on top of the cardboard.
The results in August of 2024 were absolutely amazing! Conclusion: Compost made for free WORKS WONDERS! See the before and after photos:

Look who is growing our GOOD compost? These guys on November 28th, 2023, are active at 32 Degrees Fahrenheit. We feed them our fresh kitchen waste. They love the banana peels. When they number 100's in the compost pile, we call them Ninja Earthworms. Because they ROCK.

Test of homemade compost compared to mix potting soil (compost with chopped-up leaves added).

Left photo; homemade compost.
Right photo; mixed potting soil and compost.
Obviously the homemade compost is out-growing the mixed potting soil. Test photos, lettuce planted November 8th, germinated Nov. 11th. After photo taken Nov 26th. 18 day of growth. Again homemade compost wins.
