At Montana State University Billings, our colors are more than school spirit—they reflect the landscape that surrounds us.

The blue represents Montana’s endless Big Sky, a symbol of possibility, discovery, and the wide-open horizons that inspire our students every day.

The gold reflects the sandstone Rimrocks overlooking Billings and the Yellowstone River that winds through our community, connecting generations of people, history, and opportunity.

Together, blue and gold tell the story of where we come from and the place we’re proud to call home.

As we walk through Montana State University Billings today, we're also walking through nearly a century of history—past classrooms, gathering spaces, traditions, and the generations of students who helped shape our university and community.

Since 1927, MSU Billings has been a place where education, opportunity, and innovation come together to serve Yellowstone County, Montana, and beyond. From historic buildings to familiar campus landmarks, these photos remind us how far we've come—and the people who made it possible.

As we look ahead to our Centennial Celebration in 2027, we're proud to honor our past while preparing the next generation of leaders, educators, healthcare professionals, artists, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.
