Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Family Support Specialist
Position:
1. 0 FTE or 0.5 FTE; 12 months; 20-22 hours/week; Monday – Friday with occasional evenings; travel to make family visits within the 11-county region to be served by ECI (Yellowstone, Bighorn, Carbon, Stillwater, Sweet Grass, Wheatland, Golden Valley, Musselshell, Judith Basin, Fergus, Petroleum)
Pay:
$21.21/ hour for 90 work-day probationary period; then $23.57/hour regular pay

FULL BENEFITS YEAR-ROUND, Fully Paid Insurance, Vacation, Sick Leave; TRS Retirement

Description:
ECI is seeking to employ a Family Support Specialists to assist families who have children from birth to 36 months of age with disabilities or developmental delays through family training, counseling & home visits, special instruction, and support coordination.

Location:
Based at the ECI office at 2016 Grand Ave with daily visits to families' homes within the 11 county region. Consideration given to applicants living in communities within the 11 county DDP Region III.

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary, Early Childhood, Special Education or related field
Prefer at least two years of experience in Special Education or Early Childhood Education or any equivalent combination of education and experience

Willingness to complete and establish Comprehensive Certification as a Family Support Specialist with the State of Montana (Department of Public Health and Human Services) within two years of starting employment

This position requires the employee to have their own reliable vehicle, a current MT Driver's License, and proof of valid auto insurance

Abilities
Learn new skills quickly and effectively during intensive orientation training
Organize, develop, and implement child and family programs
Problem-solve with creative solutions to challenges
Meet deadlines and fulfill expectations according to State Part C rules and procedures
Schedule family visits and manage time/travel efficiently
Communicate effectively
Analyze child and family needs and develop appropriate Individualized Family Service Plan and Child Outcome Summaries
Individualize training, counseling & home visits, and family coaching based on IFSP
Coordinate and manage early intervention services
Gather and disseminate reports/information upon request
Provide parent training
Advocate for family needs
Provide resource assistance and support coordination to families

MSDB’s Family Learning Weekend will be held June 5-7 at the Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind (3911 Central Ave, Great Falls, MT). Families will have opportunities to learn, connect, and access resources, while children can build friendships with peers who share similar experiences.

Summer Programs | Montana School for the Deaf & Blind One Family Learning Weekend is designated for families of deaf and hard of hearing children, and one is for families of blind and visually impaired children. These popular weekends include dynamic national speakers and a wealth of information on learning to relate to their child’s unique needs.
