Thought we'd go to the river to skim rocks, get our hands wet, look at minnows, etc.

Instead... some of the kids took a communal bath... one even wearing a sweatshirt.

Oh well, if kids were completely predictable, they'd be less fun!

Kids: "Teacher, are there fossils under this dirt?"
Me: "Um, maybe... this IS Montana."
Unfortunately, no bones were found but we did recover someone's toy solider.

New pediatric guidance says kids need more recess, not less 05/14/2026

We've noticed that kids who leave our program for Kindergarten often return the following summer w less stamina (atrophied muscles) and less interest in the outdoors.

Very sad.

The fact is, kids are only young once. The preschool years are the best time to normalize being outside.

It's why we aim for 2-4 hours of outdoor time, year round. The benefits are enormous and it never gets old.

New pediatric guidance says kids need more recess, not less Recess isn’t just a fun break for grade schoolers. It’s crucial to good health and good grades for kids of all ages.

It's beautiful rainy days like this that make me so appreciative that our parents bring extra clothes.

Being "allowed" to get dirty is one of the prime joys of childhood.

It looks like we'll have space for the summer so if you're interested in what we offer, call 534-3442 to discuss options.

The kids like the woods b/c it's fun.

But the health benefits are impressive.

"Spending just two hours in a forest can significantly reduce inflammation, improve lung capacity, and boost parasympathetic nervous system activity."

The first was non-stop fun!

The animals had a packed schedule which included...

Reading a few books before settling down for the night.

Going to bed before dark.

Getting up early for breakfast on the beach.

Playing outside, ready for pickup, when their owners arrived.
