Quick tip for piano players: if your eyes never leave the sheet music, you're reading (an important skill to develop) not memorizing.

Try playing the 1st measure of a piece from memory before you move on, then come back and play measures 1 & 2 from memory, and continue to build. It's slower at first. It's how the piece actually sticks.

Try it in your next practice session.
