As the Superintendent of Biggs Unified I have received a few questions on “Measure A” Measure “A” is a tax bond placed on the November ballot to raise bond funds to build new facilities and fix old facilities in the District. No bond funds can be used for any teacher-administrative salaries. The main project that will be completed are as follows:
· A middle school/elementary school gym. Biggs is the only middle school in Butte County without a gym to use for sports and other school activities.
· Replace middle school and elementary school portable classroom. Currently those classroom are approaching 30 years old and are falling apart.
· Replace roofs on two buildings.
· Remove old building on the Richvale campus,
· Resurface the community pool. The pool surface is cracking and cannot be patched. More than likely it will not be useable next summer.
· Replace HVAC system district wide.
A few informational items: After the football stadium burnt down it was replaced with a 3.5 million dollar facility with NO additional tax to the community.
In 2022 the district completed 9 million dollars in modernization project district wide through a state funding allocation that had never been granted state wide with NO additional tax to the community.
The district will have an informational meeting on Thursday October 3rd at 6:00 pm in the board room to answer question and provide more details.
