5 Boring things I do every day that have helped me lose over 30 pounds since having kids…and KEEP IT OFF!
1️⃣ I eat!
Do I hit my protein goals every single day? No.
Do I eat my full servings of fruits and vegetables every day?
No.
Do I eat exclusively whole and homemade foods?
Also no.
BUT I am mindful about what I eat- making sure I get at least 20-30g of protein at every meal and doing my best to make sure my snacks are whole foods as much as possible.
2️⃣ I stay hydrated!
It’s not always water, but I make sure to drink half my bodyweight (about 80 oz) in fluids every single day. This usually comes in the form of water and protein shakes. But sometimes an iced tea or lemonade finds its way into the rotation. Those are pretty sparingly though, because the added sugar is outrageous in some of those drinks!
3️⃣ I make sure I get good sleep!
Things happen every now and again that make for a bad night’s sleep, but for the most part, I really make sure to go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning (at least during the week).
Sleep is the foundation of all health, and I try and mess with it as little as possible.
4️⃣ I workout consistently!
I workout 3-4 times a week, with at least two of those workouts being strictly strength training.
Focusing on strength training and muscle growth has really reshaped my body for the better. Muscles are the best!
5️⃣ I move every day!
I’m definitely not going on hour-long walks every day, but I am getting a minimum of 8,000 steps every. single. day.
Of course, the weather makes this easier to do during certain times of the year than others, but getting that intentional movement in every day makes a world of difference in how I feel both physically, and emotionally.
Of course, the before and after pics are what we’re all after, but the process of getting from A to B really isn’t exciting or glamorous at all.
But if you can learn to embrace the boring, mundane habits in your every day life, you’ll find you’ve reached your goals without feeling like you’ve totally overhauled your entire life.
Boring gets results. Period.
