What an incredible week it has been celebrating theatre to the fullest extent at the International Thespian Festival in Bloomington, Indiana! All 10 students competed and received scores ranging from excellent to superior. We are incredibly proud of each of our students and their successes at the national level. Scoring is listed below and is based on a scale of 20 points. 💛🖤🐮🎭

Braxton Gonzales and Abbigail Barker with a scene from Rabbit Hole: 17.67 Excellent
Juan Diego Bravo and Madilynn Reaves with a scene from Radium Girls: 17.33 Excellent
Rachel Barker and Robin Johns with a scene from Parallel Lives: 19.67 Superior (MAINSTAGE CALLBACK, 1st ever in Steer Theatre history. 1 of only six duets to receive this honor.)
JR Barker with monologues from Eleemosynary and Three Sisters: 19.5 Superior
Andrea Guerra with monologues from Noises Off and Bodies: 18.33 Superior

Last, but not least of our seniors is Alina! Alina has served as our Vice President of our ITS troupe this year and has left a lasting place in our hearts. Her ability to lead will be sorely missed, she stepped up when we needed it most and became an integral part of our leadership team. As she moves on to Howard College and then to Sul Ross State University we expect to see nothing but success from our troupe’s songbird! 💛🖤🐮🎭

She is attending Howard college to pursue an associates degree and then plans to move on to a 4 year university to get her bachelors! Our next senior spotlight is JR! JR has consistently shown up as a devoted actor in this troupe. Work ethic, determination, and grit are three words that easily describe our sweet JR. Graduating in the top 10 of their class all while being an essential part of our team is remarkable. We cannot wait to cheer you on with all of your future successes! Our next senior is Cambree Layne! Our sweet Cambree has been involved with theatre since her 7th grade year and is highly excited and committed to attending Tarleton State University in the fall! Graduating this year with honors and she has completely broken out as a star in this year’s OAP. She was truly a fan favorite and we know she is going to soar during her time at TSU! The first of our Senior Spotlights is the incredible Rachel. From the moment Rachel has stepped into our lives she has left a little bit of sparkle everywhere she went. She has served as our social media chair for the last two years and her ability to lead a group of people will be remembered long after she is gone. She will continue pursuing a degree in theatre at Sul Ross State University in the fall semester. An amazing student not only in our shows, but also in the classroom graduating among the top 15% is something to be proud of! Congratulations Rachel, we can’t wait to watch you soar! 💛🖤🐮🎭
