Students learned about the Geometry of Hope, a modern Latin America art exhibit that uses geometric shapes to create art. Specifically they studied Geraldo de Barros and his art, Diagonal of Function (1952).
Each student was given eight squares, 4 black and 4 white. Using inductive reasoning, students replicated patterns, including those pieces from de Barros, that were displayed for them on the Promethean Board. They then used the same eight squares to design and create their own unique patterns.
These student-created patterns became their artwork that is now displayed in the hallway.
