Bulldog Computer Professionals - FSU

We will be back in action this semester, though it will look a little different. We're optimistic that we might be able to hold in-person meetings again later in the Spring.

This time we're going to meet on Discord! We'll use the "Hangout spot" voice channel. If it works out well, we can just use Discord for all the things and stop switching platforms every other time.

For our first meeting back, we'll keep it relatively open for discussion to talk about some ideas the E-Board has been working on to see what the interest level is like and to discuss what we learned from industry pros at the CIS/CIT Advisory Board.

Tomorrow at 11 AM, we'll be having a discussion on how to better focus your studying efforts by analyzing the learning objectives for your classes.

We’re finally doing our E-Board elections! (Thanks, ‘Rona…)

In order to facilitate a secure, fair, and anonymous “mail-in” voting system, we’ll have a token system to validate that each person votes once, and you can verify that your vote was counted correctly. Also because most races have more than two candidates, we’re going to use a ranked choice system to better select the right person.

If you’re a dues paying member, contact Matt Yontz for your ballot token. This will be input into your ballot form to anonymize and track your ballot. Instructions for using the ballot are at the top of the Google Forms page.

YOUR BALLOTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 6PM, WEDNESDAY AUGUST 12TH TO COUNT!

We will have an open meeting in Discord at 6pm on the 12th to announce the winners and show the ballot results. This is also where you can validate your ballot, if you’d like. I can link the Google Forms report with the anonymized ballot listings.

As a reminder, we will not be having a meeting tomorrow due to the job fair. It's from 11-3 at the Wink Arena.

Do you want to have more guest speakers like Jake? Do you want to have more site visits like AutoOwners? Tell me who you’d like to hear from!

You don’t need to have any contacts or associations with them, just an interest in seeing their tech operations. I’ll do all of the communications with them. My goal is to have a speaker or tour once per month during the school year. In order to do that, I’ll need a list of 30-50 businesses or organizations.

I’ve created a Discord channel (speaker-or-tours), and I’ll be adding an assignment in Canvas to collect the ideas.
