Television and Digital Media Production at Ferris State University

On Monday, our students in TDMP 276 - Lighting for Film and Video, had the chance to tour Lowing Studios in Grand Rapids and experience a hands-on demo of cinema equipment on location. Thanks to alumni Sam Sanders and Matt Lowing from Lowing Light and Grip for leading the demonstration of using the Fisher dolly and setting up powerful lights like the Aputure XT52. This gives our students extra experience working with industry-standard equipment outside of the classroom!

The summer session is underway! It was a beautiful day yesterday and a great day to take class outside! Day two, and already getting into hands-on learning!

The Broadcast Engineering Minor at Ferris State was created to prepare graduates for careers supporting broadcasting of all kinds. We heard through discussions with the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and with TDMP alumni across the country, of the dire need that exists now for newly trained professionals who can support the increasingly network-dependent signal flow that broadcasts depend on. Pursuing this minor will put a graduate in high demand. Check out the link below for more information.

That’s a wrap for the Spring 2026 Senior class! The handprints have been imprinted, and so have a lot of experiences and memories!

Bill and Glen got to visit with two TDMP alumni at an event today at Ford Field! Always great to see and visit with former students!
