Being a knowledge keeper endowed with knowledge by Indigenous Elders and Knowledge-Keepers (over the past 30 years) who have shared traditional teachings on how to make medicine and how to reconnect and restore relationships to lands and peoples that live on Turtle Island has been a blessing and a privilege.
There are so many similarities with the traditional Celtic pagan ways…
Colonialism consequences are very much universal…
I am grateful for my time with the Musqueum elders who first taught me native plant identification and medicine making in the demonstration forests at UBC. I am grateful for the knowledge share & exchange during my Masks We Wear project 🫶🏻
I am grateful for the in-depth and more formal teachings from a small group of Indigenous elders and knowledge-keepers who led me through traditional medicine making workshops, sharing traditional teachings that reconnected and facilitated conversations about land-based practice, indigenous knowledge, and reconciliation.
By example, they taught me to be a steward of the land, its plants and people.
As I sat at these Totems with my bestie on Thanksgiving~ I bowed deeply in gratitude to my elders for their gifts of knowledge that strengthened my personal understanding of so that I can best care for myself, my family and my community through traditional plant medicines and community traditions.
