Big Lake Schools Big Lake Schools is focused on holding high expectations and delivering exceptional results.

Big Lake Schools is comprised of Big Lake High School, Big Lake Middle School and two elementary schools: Liberty Elementary and Independence Elementary. These schools, including Little Learners Preschool, are home to more than 3,500 students. Each school takes pride in promoting, modeling and practicing character and behavioral development. Big Lake Schools invites all stakeholders to participate directly in the comprehensive educational experience of its students. Our programming opportunities are data-driven to best meet the needs of all students. This data includes the input and feedback we receive from members of our community. The six-member Big Lake School Board of Directors actively engages the public as they strive to promote connectivity between our schools and the members of our community. They pride themselves on providing informed, student-centered leadership as their work targets greater opportunities for the success of our 21st Century learners. Other Facts:

Infant Playdates: Experiential learning at it's finest! 👶

The BLHS Child Development 1 class recently had their first infant play date of the year, hosting six youngsters, ranging in age from 2 to 10 months, and their parents.

Students spent the time together observing developmental milestones, fine & gross motor skills, and expression of emotions; exploring how the concepts of development they have learned in the classroom translate to real life.

This was just the first of two visits of the trimester. We can't wait to spend some time with toddlers in November!

We think the Mad Hatter would approve of this tea party 🎩🐰

The third grade “Classic Tales” CKLA unit was all about learning literacy skills through classic stories, one of which being "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.”

So, as a unit wrap up, they held a tea party inspired by the one they read about! 🫖

CKLA is the English Language arts curriculum used in our K-5 classrooms. Taking an evidence-based approach to literacy instruction, CKLA is grounded in the Science of Reading.

This week was National School Lunch Week, and the theme was “Cafeteria Circus." The Liberty lunchroom crew went all out to make it special!

A huge shoutout to our school nutrition teams for serving up big smiles and balanced meals each and every day. Thank you for always helping keep our students fueled, focused, and ready to learn!

FYI: Tomorrow night's home varsity football game (10/14) is Military Appreciation Night! 🏈

All veteran's and active military will enjoy FREE game admission, plus profits from concessions will go towards supporting men and women who have served.

Game starts at 6pm!

Did you know? Tomorrow night's Big Lake Varsity football game is Military Appreciation Night! 🏈💙

All veterans and active service members can get into the game for FREE.

In addition, Big Lake Community Education will be in the concession stand, and all of our profits will will go towards providing free community education opportunities to veterans and active military. We will also have a tip jar out for Big Lake Beyond the Yellow Ribbon.

We are excited to be a part of a fun night supporting both our hometown Hornets the men and women who proudly serve our country! We hope to see you there!

Unity Day is recognized nationally, as part of National Bullying Prevention Month, in efforts to send a visible message of bullying prevention.
