Took this from someone: Masks are worn in Operating rooms and dentist offices for large particles... Not microbes. People that catch any type of virus or bacterial infection usually catch it by touching a surface someone else has touched and then touch their faces.. Your eyes are the most porous membrane. They are the least protected.. In our noses we have tiny hairs called cilia.. When you go on an airline flight the altitude dries out those cilia and leave you more vulnerable to microbes.. That's why people should use a saline mist on an airline flight.. Take the flu for example. Studies were done (quite crudely) with people in jail cells..lol.. People that contracted influenza were kept in separate cells than people that were not infected.. So they'd had one group kiss the other people in jail cells that were not infected.. None of them had contracted influenza.. 50% of the people that had shaken hands with the infected people, had contracted influenza.. Most likely, because they had touched their faces before they'd had washed their hands.. Obviously. Those masks have air pockets for a reason.. That's so we can breath during 20 hours of surgery.. It is for larger particles such as blood, or chipped teeth.. Now someone will have a rebuttal, Saying that this is airborne and can be inhaled.. That is true. It's also in bold letters saying that mask will not protect you from ANY microbes.. They are called microbes for a reason! You cannot see them without a microscope.. Both the surgeon general and the FDA agree with my opinion. The only reason they are making people wear masks is because it makes them feel safer.. Or you can let the surgeon general explain it to them... Nothing will protect you more than not touching your face, and washing your hands singing Happy Birthday to yourself self twice, while doing so After coming home.. Microbes stick to the oils on our hands.. Microbes have something on their Cell wall called a capsid.. That's what makes it stick to the oil on your hands.. Soap breaks down the capsid, And after you are finished washing, they are safely gone from your hands and down the drain. The best point to make is to watch people with masks on their faces.. They are constantly adjusting them and touching their faces. Health care professionals that know aseptic technique, Will never touch their faces, If they are proficient, and have a lot of experience... In the operating Room you can only move your hands from your waist to your shoulders.. If you touch your face that means you are contaminated and must rip off all of your PPE, Scrub again, then gown and glove again.. Taking microbiology 101 would help..lol.. I'll send you more from the surgeon general, Who agree, and know deep down inside 99% of people are going to spread the virus MORE, with a mask on.
