Art Club members enjoyed a field trip to St. Joseph, MO this past Saturday!
We began our day with a guided tour of the Glore Psychiatric Museum..the students and myself thoroughly enjoyed viewing all of the exhibits with artifacts that were once used for the treatment of mental health patients. We had a great tour guide and learned a ton! Students even got to step inside the tunnels that were once used to travel from building to building when the facility was active.
Next, we enjoyed another fantastic tour at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art..our wonderful tour guide led us through their permanent collection, gave us a look at the basement of the house section of the Albrecht-Kemper, and showed us the inside of the speakeasy behind the library walls! We all loved this glimpse into the past. We also enjoyed a look at one of the temporary, contemporary exhibits to end our tour.
We followed this with an art activity at their Education Centerβ¦our instructor led us through a collage exercise, using art magazines from the 1970βs and 1980βs as our materials. The students did a great job!
We ended our day with a meal at Texas Roadhouse..it was well worth the wait! Finally, we had to swing by Cabana for some of their famous ice cream..some folks ..not naming names..((Carson Thrasher)) loved it so much they ordered a second round of ice cream.
Thank you to all of the Art Club members for spending your Saturday learning, growing, and eating together! ππ¨πΌοΈ
