The Children's Center for Communication / Beverly School for the Deaf

The Children's Center for Communication / Beverly School for the Deaf Founded in 1876, Beverly School for the Deaf is one of the oldest schools for Deaf and hard of Hearing children in the U.S.

Our Mission : Enhancing lives of deaf and/or disabled individuals, their families, and communities through person-centered, specialized educational programming in a language-rich, inclusive environment. While much has changed since then, the school remains committed to providing exceptional education for children who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or who have other special communication and learning n

eeds. In the 1980s the school expanded its educational opportunities to include children with many secondary issues including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, developmental delays, and physical challenges. In 2008, to more accurately reflect our mission and student community, the school’s name was changed to The Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf. Today, the school and its two support programs The Children’s Center for Communication (CCC) and The Beverly School for the Deaf (BSD) are more diverse than ever, serving close to 150 children and their families from 40 communities.

Exciting things are happening in Beverly!
CCCBSD is thrilled to begin a new collaboration with Hannah Elementary School and Beverly Public Schools. Our vision is to create a state-of-the-art, evidence-based Deaf Education program that offers students the best of both worlds—Deaf peers, culture, language, and specialized Deaf Education expertise alongside the opportunities and academic environment of a high-quality mainstream school.
Our CCCBSD Outreach Team kicked things off today with a presentation on Deaf Education at Hannah Elementary, and we are off to a fabulous start!
Thank you, Beverly Public Schools, for this exciting collaboration. We can’t wait to see where it takes us! 💙

DYRK1A Syndrome Awareness Day is recognized each year on August 21, bringing together families, advocates, and communities to raise awareness of this rare genetic condition.

At CCCBSD, we celebrated a little early today by wearing orange. We are proud to recognize this important day and help bring greater awareness to DYRK1A syndrome and the individuals and families living with the diagnosis. 🧡
