Waring School Waring School is a co-educational, academic college preparatory school for students in Middle and High School (grades 6-12).

Founded in 1972 by Philip and Josée Waring, the School offers interdisciplinary studies in Humanities; extensive music, art, and theatre options, challenging mathematics and science courses in state-of-the-art facilities, and a rich curriculum of French language and cultural exchange. Numerous student trips locally and abroad, as well as co-curricular offerings in service and leadership, provide opportunities for personal growth. Waring's small size and multi-age groupings enable the School to create an empowering network of relationships within the community. A caring and individualistic approach to each student supports his or her personal learning style, while maintaining demanding academic standards.

Today Waring School honors Indigenous Peoples' Day. Waring is located on the ancestral homelands of the Pawtucket at Naumkeag, a branch of the Penacook confederation. At this upcoming Wednesday's All-School Meeting, we will collectively honor Indigenous Peoples' Day: what it means, why it matters, and how we can continue to be in solidarity with Indigenous dignity, rights, cultures, communities, and wisdom. Many Native nations, including the Diné, Haudenosaunee, Tlingit, and Anishinaabe have long practiced justice through circles, healing, and repairing relationships, and those teachings are inspiring restorative practices and policies in our school community today.

Convocation is always one of the most meaningful traditions for our students, faculty, and parents. It’s the moment our entire community comes together to set the tone for the year ahead. This year’s ceremony featured moving speeches from our seniors, who reflected on the deep impact Waring has had on their lives and growth. Balanced with incredible student performances and the excitement of welcoming our newest students into the fold, it was a beautiful reminder of the heart of our school.

Curiosity can lead in all kinds of directions.

As Waring students choose their electives for the year ahead, they're choosing opportunities to explore interests beyond their everyday coursework. Where Are They Now?

What happens when the things you love don’t fit neatly into one subject?

For Waring alum Natalia Ellis '25, now studying Contemporary Dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (), the answer is to keep exploring the connections.

At Waring, Natalia co-taught Creative Writing, led a middle school math study group, co-captained three varsity sports and co-led the Feminist Club. Today, she’s bringing that same range of curiosity to her work in dance, exploring how literature and academics can inspire movement.
