Before we head to cabins or campfire stories begin, our community shares a common thread: a single book read by every student and faculty member ahead of Camping Trip. This year, that shared journey begins with The Girl Who Became a Buddha by Maria Denjongpa, a Waring alumni parent and co-founder of the Taktse International School in Sikkim. In the open air of Camping Trip and back in Tutorial groups, this book will serve as a springboard for student-led debate, fresh perspectives, and critical reflection.

We are proud to introduce the new Waring School mission statement, a true labor of love developed by our entire faculty and community:

At Waring, education has always extended beyond the textbook. We believe in empowering students to find their voice, dive deep into experiential learning, and step boldly outside their comfort zones within our rigorous liberal arts curriculum.

What makes Waring feel like home? It's the connection that students of all ages form through sports teams and school-wide traditions, such as our annual camping trip. We empower everyone to discover their authentic voice. A conversation that begins on a van ride continues in the hallway or classroom. Over time, students come to know one another across ages and experiences, creating a community where everyone feels welcomed, known, and part of something bigger.

It's easy to see why the four Robotics programs are Waring's most sought after summer activities. Taught by our award-winning Wolfpack Machina team, kids enjoy designing, building and solving problems for unique robotic challenges. Here is a peek into the world of competitive robotics, where the next generation of innovators get its start.

What a summer we had at WaringWorks! From soccer, theatre, and French to exploring the arts, each day invited the campers to discover something new. Beyond the activities, the heart of WaringWorks was found in the friendships formed, the laughter shared, and the confidence that grew along the way. Our campers brought so much energy, curiosity, and bright spirit to the Waring campus, reminding us all what summer is truly about. We can't wait to welcome you back.

Four trips to New Zealand. Nine FIRST LEGO League teams launched. One mission: inspire the next generation of robotics students.

What began as outreach has grown into an ongoing partnership, with Harrison Tinger and Adam Bererhout ('28) returning to New Zealand again and again to teach programming, CAD, and engineering to students across both the South and North Islands.

Their work helped local teams reach new heights, including an Auckland Championship title, and earned Harrison the FIRST Leadership Award and an invitation to return as an advanced instructor.

This is what learning without borders looks like.

Alumni Spotlight: Jan Lindsay F 2000-2016, P ‘05, ‘07, BOT (2021-)

In the latest edition of Notecards from Waring, we look back at our Medical Endterm program with inspiration from Jan Lindsay, former Waring school nurse, parent, and member of the Board of Trustees. Under her guidance, a medical Endterm curriculum was born. The curriculum deeply engages students in experiential learning, immersing them in real-world environments such as neuroscience labs, medical shadowing, and healthcare ethics. As a result, countless Waring graduates have continued their education in the healthcare field. Read more about this hands-on Endterm in our latest alumni magazine.
