Many thanks to our STEAM culinary arts students for their hard work making our September “Nothing Bundt” Birthday cakes! They were delicious and gobbled up by our students and staff!

Our STEAM Culinary Arts students have been busy in the kitchen over the past several weeks, turning donated and reclaimed sweet potatoes and apples into delicious homemade pie fillings!

Along the way, students have been learning about fall spices, improving their knife skills, and getting plenty of practice peeling, chopping, cooking, and preparing foods for preservation. They’ve also learned the importance of reducing food waste and making the most of available ingredients by freezing extra fillings for future use.

Best of all, some of their hard work has been transformed into beautiful, homemade sweet potato pies that will be served for dessert at tomorrow’s Alumni Homecoming Luncheon! 🥧

Our students absolutely love getting into the kitchen and learning new skills! It’s wonderful to watch their confidence, teamwork, and creativity grow as they turn simple ingredients into something delicious.

Real ingredients, real-life skills, and a whole lot of Cardinal pride! ❤️🖤🤍

Earlier this month, our Red Bird Christian School 7th and 8th Grade STEAM students enjoyed an exciting field trip to Lincoln Memorial University, where they explored the amazing innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics during the Revolutionary War era!

Through fun, interactive, hands-on activities, students discovered how creativity, problem-solving, and innovation played important roles in shaping our nation’s history. What a wonderful opportunity to bring classroom learning to life while connecting STEAM concepts with American history! 🇺🇸

❤️🖤 We are especially proud of the way our students represented Red Bird Christian School! Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and excellent behavior made them outstanding ambassadors for RBCS!

A special THANK YOU to Lincoln Memorial University’s Abraham Lincoln Museum for providing our students with coupons for FREE ice cream at the Middlesboro Dairy Queen! 🍦 What a sweet way to top off a fantastic educational experience!

Our RBCS Music and Fine Arts Department pulled out all the stops at tonight’s Annual Fall Concert! The school cafeteria was filled with beautiful music and outstanding performances by our 5th and 6th grade bands, middle and high school bands, and middle and high school choirs!

🌟 From an incredible Star Wars ballad to a heart-touching dulcimer performance and a beautiful medley of favorite hymns, our talented students certainly gave us a night to remember!

👏 A huge thank-you to our wonderful music director, Mr. Nate Smallwood, for the dedication, patience, and passion he pours into our students and music program!

We also want to recognize Nate’s parents, Mr. Mark and Mrs. Rebecca Smallwood, whose 30+ years of faithful service to Red Bird continue today! Their volunteer contributions to music, Christian education, the arts, and so much more are a true blessing to our school family. ❤️

We are so proud of our students and grateful for the Smallwood family’s continued commitment to keeping music, faith, and the arts alive and thriving at Red Bird Christian School!

We have way too much fun in seventh grade STEAM!

Miss Melanie’s elementary and middle school STEAM students had a blast learning about the laws of physics, potential energy, and kinetic energy by creating their own jumping cup toys using just plastic cups and rubber bands!

Students were able to see firsthand how energy can be stored and then released to create motion. As they built, tested, adjusted, and tried again, they were also strengthening important skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, perseverance, creativity, and following a design process.

Hands-on activities like this make science easier to understand because students are not just hearing about how energy works—they are actually seeing it happen right in front of them!

There were plenty of jumping cups, surprised faces, and lots of laughter as our students learned that sometimes the best science lessons are the ones you can build, test, and play with! ❤️🖤🤍
