A few days ago, Miss Emily Napier’s 12th-grade Modern U.S. History and Government students stepped back in time as they completed a World War II radio show project. Working in teams, students researched major events such as Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Midway, D-Day, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, then presented their findings as short radio broadcasts.

This creative project helped students strengthen their research, writing, teamwork, communication, and public-speaking skills while learning how radio brought important news into American homes during World War II. What a fun and meaningful way to bring history to life! 🎙️📻

🧁 Baking Skills, Serving Others, and Celebrating Our Red Bird Family! 🧁

Our seventh-grade STEAM and high school Culinary Arts students recently baked and decorated more than 150 cupcakes for our August schoolwide birthday party!

During our monthly birthday parties, every student and staff member receives a cupcake so our entire school can celebrate together. Those who have a birthday during that month are recognized and receive a special gift bag of freeze-dried candy, generously donated by a friend of RBCS and assembled by our students. The candy was definitely a big hit!

This project was about more than making cupcakes. It allowed our students to serve others while developing valuable culinary and practical living skills. They practiced following directions, measuring ingredients, using clean and sanitary kitchen techniques, baking, working as a team, and learning basic decorating skills. Most importantly, they could take pride in creating something that brought happiness to others.

We are excited to continue this special celebration each month and proud of our students for using their growing skills to serve the Red Bird Christian School family. Everyone deserves to feel celebrated on their birthday! ❤️🎉

Our 7th Grade STEAM Culinary Arts and High School Culinary Arts students earned their way into the kitchen today! Before cooking, students completed checkoffs on hand hygiene and kitchen sanitation and passed a written test.

Our 7th graders compared generic and name-brand pancake mixes—and the name brand took top honors! Our high school students tested an online pancake recipe that didn’t quite live up to expectations, but that’s part of the learning process!

Both classes practiced proper batter consistency, avoiding overmixing, and working together under pressure. It was a fun—and delicious—day of hands-on learning! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳🥞

Mr. Morris’s sixth-grade students had a blast exploring physics and teamwork during today’s Elementary STEAM class!

Students learned the difference between potential and kinetic energy by creating pool noodle poppers. They also explored gravity by launching pom-poms and miniature marshmallows to discover which would travel the farthest.

Next, students worked in teams of two to build the tallest tower possible using limited materials—and they only had 10 minutes! They did an amazing job communicating, solving problems, thinking creatively, and making adjustments when their designs didn’t work as planned.

It was an afternoon full of hands-on learning, friendly competition, and lots of teamwork! 🚀🏗️👏
