US for Success Coalition sets out DHS recommendations 12/13/2023

Update from NAFSA: Association of International Educators: The U.S. for Success Coalition, of which NAFSA: Association of International Educators is a steering member, provided the .S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with a set of solutions that would make the United States a more welcoming destination for international students. Speaking with the PIE News, NAFSA Executive Director and CEO Fanta Aw said the solutions are focused on ameliorating issues such as "lengthy and unpredictable processing times, duplicative and burdensome paperwork, and lack of inter- and intra-agency coordination."

The recommendations urge DHS to champion the importance of international students by:

-consistently articulating their value;
-effectively coordinating within the agency and with other federal agencies;
-improving technology to eliminate bureaucratic burdens on the agencies, higher education institutions, and international students; and
-developing and implementing training to advance these goals.
