๐๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐๐๐ฒ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง ๐ข๐ง ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐. ๐๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ฆ!
Why is she the most important person? Yes, for all the reason we mostly acknowledge our moms for; their commitment to bring us into the world and their grave sacrifices made to nurture us into adults. However, for me there's more gratitude heaped on top of that. I'm grateful for all the life lessons I've learned along the way.
You see, while I was reserved, fat, mousey, and quiet with low self-esteem in high school, I later evolved into a rebel. I always Dared to Be Fierce enough to push boundaries. Sadly, many of those boundaries were broken and I fell really hard. I mean hard!
Many of those times my mom caught me, but she Dared to Be Fierce enough to exercise tough love and let me figure it my own way out of the messes I had gotten myself into.
As a parent now myself, I know exactly how heart wrenching it is to exercise tough love over someone you love so much you would breathe for them if you could because they came out of your own body.
I also know how much it aches to hold my distance to give my child space to grow and rise from the ashes of their own pain to take the flight of the Phoenix in their own journey. You see my mom taught me that. She taught me that I can depend on myself to heal, repair, and rise up after I fall.
I'll admit that those lessons were hard learned, but if my mother, Dr. Bj Verdun-Moore, the OG Diva, had not loved me enough to literally let me fall I would not be the Woman of F.I.R.E. that I am right now. She let me pick up my own pieces, and figure out my mess and gave me space enough to learn how to control and wisely use my F.I.R.E. while loving me unconditionally through it all.
Well, today is my Mom's birthday! I am so blessed to celebrate her born day with her for another year around the sun.
She looks like my sister, shares many of the same passions from working out to entrepreneurship, and I value her for it all and love that we have developed such a deep bond of respect for each other throughout the years.
But today, its her day and I just want to take a moment and say Thank You Mom for being YOU! Because you were YOU, you taught me how to BE ME!
