"Beverly Hills High School (BHHS) is a four year, college-oriented high school unique in its international population and high achievement. With an enrollment of 2215 students (568 seniors), BHHS strives to ensure that our students are humane, thinking, productive citizens who respect diversity. The faculty, staff and administration
are dedicated to helping all of our students from diverse backgrounds, including 41% for whom English is not a first language, reach their individual academic and personal goals. BHHS has always benefited from strong community support and involvement, including numerous bond measures and other endeavors designed to enrich BHHS and its programs. With over 188 course offerings and 58 electives, BHHS students experience an extensive and challenging range of studies designed to develop the skills they need to succeed in college, theworkplace and life. All classes meet at least 267 minutes per week, with the exception of Advanced Placement science classes, which meet an additional 50 minutes per week, on a traditional schedule. Individual classes meet three times per week for 51 minutes, and 114 minutes once per week on a modified block schedule. Students in grades 9-11 are expected to carry a minimum of six classes. Seniors may take a minimum of five classes. BHHS sponsors more than 64 student-run extracurricular clubs. Our students also participate in a multitude of community service projects each year. The average student to teacher ratio is 19:1, and BHHS has maintained an average class size of 19 in our 9th and 10th grade English classes and 18 students in our Algebra classes. The average class size is 23 students. The faculty consists of the principal, 3 assistant principals, 2 psychologists, 8 counselors, librarian, nurse, ROP counselor, intervention counselor and 110 teachers, 61 of whom hold masters degrees and/or doctoral degrees. As one of the most decorated public high schools in the country, BHHS is proud of the accomplishments of our students, including national recognition in such diverse areas as engineering, foreign language, mathematics, music, print and broadcast journalism, athletics, business, marketing and design. BHHS seniors are accepted and attend some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country."
