✨ Meet Amanda Sherrick — Owner & Director ✨
The Next Step Dance Studio, formerly known as A Step Of Class, has a long-standing history rooted in a love for dance, family, and community. At the heart of our studio is the owner and director, Amanda Sherrick!
Amanda began her dance education at just 6 years old, and her love for dance has continued to grow throughout the years. At age 11, she became a teacher’s assistant, and by 16, she was an instructor. Since then, she has continued to expand her knowledge and experience in kinder dance, ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, acrobatics, clogging, hip-hop, pointe, and so much more!
In 2019, Amanda became certified to teach through Dance Masters of America and joined Chapter 15 Carolina Dance Masters, where she remains an active member today.
Outside of dance, Amanda has worn many hats. She is the mother of three beautiful children, has modeled for Tara Grinna and other clothing companies, acted in movies and television shows, and has expanded her background through other activities including sports and horseback riding.
But above all of her accomplishments, Amanda considers teaching and sharing her love of dance one of the greatest blessings God has given her. She is incredibly thankful for every child He has allowed her to teach and for the opportunity to make an impact on their lives through dance. 💜
✨ Meet Emily Williams — Instructor ✨
Emily has been part of The Next Step Dance Studio family for 15 years as a student and spent 11 of those years dancing as a company member. She has always considered The Next Step her second home, and today, she is blessed to call it the place where she gets to teach the next generation of dancers!
Emily has trained and excelled in kinder dance, ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, acrobatics, clogging, hip-hop, pointe, improvisation, and more. Throughout her years as a student, she earned numerous awards in competitive group and solo routines and was chosen twice as a Youth Dance Ambassador for Dance Troupe Inc. She has also had the opportunity to perform in parades, recitals, competitions, skits, fairs, fundraisers, and church services.
Emily began her teaching journey as a teacher’s assistant at the age of 16, and by 18, she was teaching classes on her own. Since then, she has continued to grow as an instructor and choreographer, with competitive routines she has instructed and choreographed receiving prestigious awards. However, the trophies are never what matter most to her. What she treasures most is seeing her students develop teamwork, dedication, confidence, strength, flexibility, musicality, and a genuine passion for the art of dance.
Emily has dreamed of becoming a dance teacher since she was a little girl, and she feels incredibly blessed that God has allowed that dream to become a reality. 🩵
💕A Mother-Daughter Team With a Passion for Dance💕
Amanda and Emily aren’t just the owner and director and an instructor, they are a mother-daughter duo with a shared passion for dance and a heart for the children they have the privilege of teaching. What began as Amanda’s love and dedication to dance has grown into something they now get to share together, creating a truly special bond both inside and outside of the studio.
Together, they have become a powerhouse team, combining years of experience, passion, creativity, and a genuine desire to see their students grow. They are so excited for what the future holds for The Next Step Dance Studio and cannot wait to become even more involved in our community, build meaningful relationships, and continue educating, encouraging, and inspiring the next generations of dancers to come.
We believe dance is about so much more than learning steps. It’s about building confidence, creating friendships, developing character, discovering passion, and growing into the person God created you to be. 🩰✨
We are so thankful for every family who has trusted us with their dancers and for everyone who has been part of the journey from A Step Of Class to The Next Step Dance Studio. We can’t wait to see where God takes us next! ❤️
