Bettendorf steel plant helps rid police of evidence, fi****ms In any given week, Sivyer workers melt 500 to 1,000 tons of steel, including fi****ms in some cases.

We are excited to have 4 apprentices this summer, working within different areas of our skilled trades.

Learning and earning: 72 students sign on for Quad Cities apprenticeships John Deere, Arconic and businesses large and small are taking on the high school students, the highest amount in the past few years of the program.

Glad to help the Moline Police Department safely dispose of more than 50 weapons and 3 boxes of illegal drugs.

Today we hosted 45 students from local high schools, presenting them what Sivyer Steel has to offer for future employment. Most, if not all of these students, are involved in their school's welding program and have intentions to join the workforce out high school. Besides the warmer than usual weather, we had a great time showing the foundry and machine shop!

It may be snowing outside, but we are staying warm, pouring some 2880F steel this morning.

Sivyer Steel proudly made the two castings that make up the bow stem. From right above the bulb, up to the two layers a scaffolding, there are two castings there that make up the leading edge that cuts through the water.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Andrew Hughes on his selection as the Property/Evidence Custodian and Crime Scene Investigaor.

Officer Hughes is responsible for maintaining the tens of thousands of pieces of evidence at the Moline Police Department.

Officer Hughes oversees the returning of evidence or destruction of evidence once court proceedings are done.

So if you have ever wondered what happens to the guns and drugs we seize, they go up in a fireball at Sivyer Steel Castings LLC.

Officer Hughes has worked all three shifts on patrol and as a Field Training Officer. Most recently Officer Hughes served as the “self-appointed” day shift liaison to the Moline Fire Department.

Officer Hughes also serves as a Team Leader on the Moline Police Department’s Honor Guard.
