Check this out! PVHS students visited University of Iowa Healthcare facilities. These students got a hands on experience to learn what it's like to be a medical student! Thank you, University of Iowa!
High school juniors and seniors from Pleasant Valley High School visited the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine to experience a day in the life of a medical student. Students engaged in simulations and activities with current UI Carver College of Medicine faculty, staff, and medical students. Students first learned basic physical exam skills and communication skills for talking with patients in a Performance-Based Assessment session with simulated patients. Students then practiced diagnosing a patient as they walked through a case study with current medical students. Finally, students had the opportunity to learn all about medical school as they talked with current medical students and engaged in a hands-on activity to learn about anatomy.
