Bethpage has once again been recognized as a Google for Education Reference District, reaffirming the district’s commitment to innovation in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Bethpage was the first school district on Long Island to earn the Google Reference District designation, recognizing its pioneering use of Google tools, including Google Workspace for Education and Chromebooks. Since then, the district has continued to expand the role of technology in the classroom, giving students and staff access to tools that support collaboration, creativity and real-world learning.

Big thanks to JFK Middle School Computer Literacy teacher Shannon Tedesco, who led Bethpage’s recertification effort, which resulted in the district successfully retaining its status as a Google for Education Reference District!

We’re counting down the days until our students are back in the buildings! Our custodial team is hard at work getting our schools in tip-top shape, and in just a few days, teachers will be back in their classrooms decorating, organizing and getting everything ready to welcome YOU on Sept. 1!

For this Flashback Friday, we’re looking back at the first day of school last year. Seeing these smiling faces has us even more excited to fill our hallways with students again very soon. We can’t wait to see you!

Bethpage High School senior Anjali Ponugupati has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting!

For her Gold Award project, Anjali combined her passion for STEM with community service, developing and leading a series of free robotics workshops for elementary and middle school students at the Bethpage Public Library. Even better, the project will continue: Anjali worked with her Regal Eagles robotics teammates and advisers to make the workshops part of the team’s future service initiatives.

Congratulations to Anjali on this outstanding achievement and for helping inspire the next generation of STEM students!

Exciting news!

Progress on our brand new fitness center is moving right along, and it will be open and ready for use this fall!

This state-of-the-art space will allow our student-athletes more space for training, as well as offer opportunities such as personal training classes for our students and classes for the community through our Continuing Education program.

On Thursday, August 13, Bethpage High School opened its doors and welcomed dozens of students from Carle Place, Plainview-Old Bethpage, Great Neck and East Williston for our annual Extended School Year (ESY) Invitational.

Students arrived dressed in red, white and blue to match the event’s theme celebrating the country’s Semiquincentennial. Grouped by age level – elementary, middle school and high school – students rotated through activities in the gymnasium, the athletic barn and the cafeteria, then came together in the auditorium to finish the day.

The event gave students from neighboring districts a chance to socialize and bond and brought ESY staff members together to connect. It was a wonderful day of community-building and fun!

This summer's band camp just finished up, and our student musicians are ready to hit the ground running (or playing!) come September 1st. We have a long tradition of musical excellence here at Bethpage... just take a look at our stylin' band from way back in 1970!

At Bethpage, we take pride in introducing world languages and global culture to our youngest learners through our innovative Foundational Language Early Start (FLES) program. Through this program, K-5 students receive a dynamic introduction to Spanish, French, and Italian.

FLES is taught across Kramer Lane, Charles Campagne and Central Boulevard elementary schools by teachers Allison Gunning (K-2) and Katie Barba (3-5). The program allows FLES students to engage in hands-on projects and experiential learning, often tying language lessons to cultural exploration. This includes fun class trips, such as a visit to Mangoes, a local Mexican restaurant where students practice ordering in Spanish, taste traditional dishes, and write reviews about their experiences. This multidisciplinary approach enriches their language skills and writing abilities while immersing them in authentic cultural contexts.

While FLES classes are not formally graded, assessments reveal that students retain their lessons at an above-average level, a testament to the program’s engaging and effective structure.

🤖💙 STEM, teamwork and creativity came together during a special summer collaboration!

Last week, students in Bethpage’s Extended School Year (ESY) program teamed up with members of the Regal Eagles for a morning of hands-on learning. Using LEGO Spike Prime Kits, students built and programmed carnival rides while exploring the fundamentals of robotics and coding.

The Regal Eagles helped students strengthen problem-solving, teamwork, fine motor skills and confidence in a fun, inclusive environment. This annual tradition continues to show the power of peer mentorship and making STEM accessible for all learners.
