🎉 Today’s the day! Our Roadrunner Kickoff is happening after school today from 4 to 6 p.m.!

We’ll be joined by more than 20 local businesses and community organizations, including several of our amazing school sponsors who are helping our teachers stock up on some much-needed classroom supplies.

Come learn about after-school and weekend programs for kids and families, while checking out activities, giveaways, and everything our community partners have to offer. We’ll also have free food, face painting, and more!

It’s a great chance to meet other GW families and staff, connect with our community, and enjoy what looks like a gorgeous Friday afternoon! ☀️

We can’t wait to see you there!

Thank you to all the families who came out last night for our first PTA meeting! We were so delighted to see so many engaged parents and guardians excited to help make this school year spectacular!

You don’t have to volunteer or attend meetings to make a difference. Simply joining the PTA shows your support for our school community and strengthens our voice as we advocate for all of our children.

PTA members also receive priority when signing up to volunteer for popular in-school events like the Walk-a-thon and Holiday Shoppe.

¡Gracias a todas las familias que nos acompañaron anoche en nuestra primera reunión del PTA! ¡Nos encantó ver a tantos padres, madres y tutores tan comprometidos y entusiasmados por ayudar a que este año escolar sea espectacular!

We were so excited to welcome back Bob, Michelle, and a whole bunch of friends from Critter Connections! They visited us last year, and our students loved those assemblies so much that we just had to invite them back!

Our students got to meet geckos, skinks, tortoises, snakes, and even a bunny named Mocha! They learned some pretty amazing things—like whether tails can regrow when they’re lost, which animals lay eggs and which give birth to live babies, and the fact that lizards have ears, but snakes do not!

And here’s one question to ask your Roadrunner: Do they remember what the largest species of tortoise is? (Hint: It’s the Galápagos giant tortoise!)

¡Estamos muy emocionados de recibir nuevamente a Bob, Michelle y un montón de amigos de Critter Connections! Nos visitaron el año pasado, ¡y a nuestros estudiantes les encantaron tanto esas presentaciones que simplemente teníamos que invitarlos a regresar!

Nuestros estudiantes pudieron conocer geckos, escincos, tortugas terrestres, serpientes ¡y hasta un conejito llamado Mocha! Aprendieron cosas increíbles, como si las colas pueden volver a crecer cuando se pierden, qué animales ponen huevos y cuáles dan a luz a crías vivas, ¡y que los lagartos tienen orejas, pero las serpientes no!

Y aquí hay una pregunta para hacerle a su Roadrunner: ¿Recuerda cuál es la especie de tortuga terrestre más grande? (Pista: ¡es la tortuga gigante de las Galápagos!)
