The Lehigh University Summer Engineering Institute (SEI) is a four-week residential program hosted by the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science at Lehigh University. The program seeks out talented, current high school sophomores and juniors who are interested in pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Participants in the program are given the o
pportunity to engage in an immersive learning experience, with hands-on labs, research opportunities and interactions with industry experts. SEI promotes a living and learning experience. The program strives to provide students with an enriching, multifaceted experience by giving them an opportunity to improve their technical knowledge, critical thinking and communication skills. Teamwork and collaboration are essential for success in any endeavor, including the SEI program. Students work in teams to create viable solutions to problems and advances in different fields of engineering.
2015 participants engaged in a diverse curriculum with Lehigh University faculty and local industry experts who taught students in fields like 3D printing, nanotechnology, and manufacturing, to name a few. Students also received hands-on experiences by participating in labs and by using equipment not typically offered to high school students. Additional curriculum related experiences included: behind-the-scenes, private tours of both AT&T GNOC, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom and the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
