Master Lee would like to say a few words to our community:

Lehigh Valley TKD recently received a negative review, and this was the response I posted on Google Review:

I was fortunate to begin martial arts training in the early 70's. The 70's were a special period for martial arts. Intructors from Korea, Japan, and the military began to introduce various martial arts to America and the world. Martial arts movies displayed artists with incredible skills using their bodies as tools for self defense. Martial arts schools began to open and instructors began to teach as they have learned. I was fortunate to be one of their students.

I trained in the US, Germany, and Japan. The training was difficult but I never thought of the training as being abusive. Abuse is defined as "treatment of a person or animal with cruelty or violence, exceptionally, regularly or repeatable". I never considered those instructors as being violent or cruel and they didnt punch or kick us on a regular basis. I and other students thought of the training as a form of mind and body conditioning to help prepare us for confrontations we may face beyond the school. The way instructors taught was considered normal not harmful. These instructors were direct and forceful but always keeping the safety of the students in mind. Most injuries occurred during sparring. The injury rate greatly decreased with the introduction of safety equipment.

The instructors began to learn their methods of training was not accepted by a majority of students and the student drop out rate affected the schools income. They began to scale back the training to adapt to the student majority.
53 years later the past training is all but gone. Schools have continued to change their training methods with the goal to keep the student majority. I think it is wonderful there are schools that offer all types of training to promote the martial arts but I prefer the 70s.

That said, when you come to my school you will do 100 push-ups or 100 sit-ups or develop blisters on your feet from my wooden floors or every once in a while be tested with a punch/kick or feel the summer heat because there isn't air conditioning and I will not be afraid to toughen you up, even if that means stepping on your stomach.
As you stated in the beginning of your review, "it was a good experience", unfortunately you failed to realize it.
