What Arts Education Could Offer to Cambodia 42 Years After the Khmer Rouge Regime 04/18/2017

In an op-ed for The Huffington Post, co-authors Sothy Eng, Lehigh University professor, and graduate student Laura Dean, write: "Given how globalized the world is becoming, however, Cambodia has to not only restore its schools and culture but also keep up with the ever-increasingly competitive global economy and workforce. The problem facing the government and its people is that it barely has enough energy, resources and opportunity to do so. It seems as though it needs an innovative answer to address the very real issues the country faces in building back up to its once famous name, the 'Pearl of Asia.'" (17 April)

On January 21, CFC celebrates its 14th anniversary. On behalf of the Lehigh-Caring for Cambodia partnership, we would like to celebrate the commitment CFC has made to not only the lives of thousands of students in Cambodia, but also to students here at Lehigh. More than 150 Lehigh students have traveled to Cambodia to work with CFC schools as researchers, evaluators, and interns providing them with theory-to-practice experiences. CFC's remarkable work provides educators with evidence of what it takes in the developing world to promote education and truly make a difference.

Raise Money for CFC: Mike Horgan 11/29/2016

Mike is participating in the Angkor Half Marathon in Siem Reap, Cambodia to raise funds for Lehigh students working on completing their school information management project. This project will help save Cambodian teachers a tremendous amount of time--several hours per week-- from manually recording students' data. Imagine if you have 50 students in a classroom and you have to write and record everything from their name to their attendance to their grades each and every week. What if they could just copy and paste the information week to week in a computer system? This is what CSB team at Lehigh is working on in collaboration with a Cambodian-based technology company--CAMEMIS. Lehigh students are helping to tailor the database to the needs of the teachers in Cambodia, while honing their own skills as Computer Science and Business majors. This project will not only have impact on all Cambodian schools in the nation, but also on the dozens of Lehigh students participating in the project. Please support Mike in his efforts to make this project a reality. Mike Horgan
